About
Georgie works both ‘en plein air’ and in her studio where the paintings initially develop from photos, collages and drawings. These layers of observation allow the underlying shapes of the landscape to become more apparent, directing her obsession with the interplay of forms and most importantly, colours. The balance of tertiary tones with cleaner brighter hues is achieved through an intuitive approach of endless application and removal of paint which in turn also allows an unprescribed history to emerge. Often working in series, Georgie's paintings evolve from the core reference material into a spontaneous and expressive painting approach, finally slowing to a more considered conclusion, with the balance of colour and composition directing the process.
